Stories 4 Good

Using your favourite stories to fund your favourite charities

The concept behind Stories 4 Good is simple: we are looking to compile collections of true stories, as told by members of the public, to raise money for a selection of charities and good causes, chosen by those authors.

OUR STORY

You may have heard the saying that everyone has a book in them. It is not true.

Most of us will never find the time to commit to writing 100,000 words. And those who do know very well that traditional publishing houses reject most of the works that are presented to them. They trade on a myth that they are the experts, but did you know that 12 publishers rejected J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter manuscript…?

However, Stories 4 Good believes that absolutely everyone has at least one good tale to tell, whether those stories are funny, poignant, or maybe something completely bizarre that the storyteller, their friends, or their family might have witnessed.

So, we’re inviting absolutely everyone and anyone to share their best true story with us – the kind of tale you would tell your family over dinner, or your friends over a drink, or your colleagues in the workplace.

Send your story to editor@stories4good.com

We’ll do the rest, so don’t worry about punctuation or spelling. Just share your best true life story with us. If your tale is chosen for the first Stories 4 Good collection, we’ll be back in touch to ask you which charity or good cause you would like to benefit from your words.

YOUR STORY

Unsure About What Kind Of Tales We Are Looking For?

Obviously, we will not publish anything libellous or inappropriate, but the scope for variety is endless. Perhaps you have a family story about a heroic ancestor. Maybe you have a miraculous tale about how your parents met. You could have an anecdote about something amazing you encountered on an adventurous holiday. Or has something spectacularly bizarre happened in your home town? Do you have a hilarious yarn about something you once witnessed? Or possibly you found something incredible that’s become part of your family folklore…

We basically want to hear it all – the funnier, most peculiar, emotional or inspirational the story, the better.

Just pop it in an email and send it to editor@stories4good.com and we’ll do the rest.

HOW IT WORKS?

Participating in Stories 4 Good is simple. You can either write your story and send it to the editor@stories4good.com email address, or, for those who prefer to use voice notes, record yourself telling the story, and send the recording by email to that same address: editor@stories4good.com

The Stories 4 Good team includes professional writers and editors with more than five decades of experience, so there’s no need to worry about spelling or punctuation – that’s our job – and we will do our best to present your story in the best possible way.

As for the stories themselves, they can be as long or as short as you like: from a few sentences to a few pages in length. We’re not looking for novels, but a collection of short, true stories to entertain people like yourselves.

Our hope is to publish Stories 4 Good collections on an annual basis, raising money for your favourite charities in the process.

Unlike traditional publishing houses, Stories 4 Good does not operate to make a profit. Our mantra is Using your favourite stories to fund your favourite charities, and as such we commit to using revenues from book sales to donate to our authors’ chosen good causes.

Technology now allows us to assign micropayments for each collection of stories, meaning that if we have 100 stories in a book, we could also potentially have 100 different charities or good causes that would benefit equally, if the authors of the stories each choose a unique organisation.

WHY

Unlike traditional book publishers, Stories 4 Good is not looking for authors to deliver tens of thousands of words in finished novels, only to reject those ideas because the publisher doesn’t think they will be profitable.

Instead, Stories 4 Good is aiming to disrupt the elitist publishing model by lowering the barrier to entry, allowing anyone and everyone to become a published author. All while raising money for good causes, rather than faceless corporate investors.

So, join the revolution. Share your favourite true story with Stories 4 Good via the editor@stories4good.com email address. And please tell your family and friends to do the same to allow us to introduce hundreds of new writers to the world of book publishing, while raising crucial funds for their favourite charity organisations.
